New Bookclub Format

Hey there, Chicken Lit’ers ~

Can you say, “SIMPLIFY”? Of course you can! So here’s what we’re going to do to make our bookclub simpler:

1. Free of Timelines. That’s right, we’re throwing those reading timelines out the window. What does this mean for you? It means you can pick up and read at your own pace. If you choose to read one of our bookclub selections and then finish it, just come back and post a review/rating of the book. It’s that easy!

2. Free of Discussions. What? Does that mean we won’t have any more questions to answer? Yes & no. If you want to post a question in your review of the bookclub selection, you are completely free to do so. But from now on, we will be free of all those scheduled discussion questions waiting for your input.

3. Review Anytime. So you just finished book selection #2 when book #75 just posted? So what! Just click on the book #2 web page and review/rate the book you finished. We’ll always want to know how you rated our book choices no matter where we are in the selection process.

We’re all about making things simple. Oh, and do keep in mind that recommendations are always welcome, even if you just want us to review a certain book for you before you decide to jump in and read it.

That’s all, peeps – HAPPY READS!

Hey what’s up? Are you going to keep reading with me? I know that summer is really busy for you!

  2. @maksbestfriend – absolutely! I’d like for us to have more of a ‘Reviewers’ format where we can read at a faster pace and continue to post our personal reviews. You and I can read as we were doing, but without scheduled discussions in between. When we are done reviewing the latest book selections, we’ll move on. But other people who are left behind can jump in anytime/anywhere. I’ll actually have more time for reading between running the kids around to activities.

Does this make sense? Are you still in?

  3. maksbestfriend says:

Like you are going to ever be able to get rid of me. I like to read too much. I think that I am going to get Just Breathe tomorrow and we can go back and forth between books if you want? I am up for a reading challenge. Thoughts?

  4. Love it! How funny that I was thinking the same thing! In fact, I was going to go ahead and post it as our next selection and leave it out there for when we finish both. So yes, you’re on – let’s read both books simultaneously! (I’ll keep ‘The Help’ away from the pool… that’ll be my non-chlorinated read. 🙂 )

  5. maksbestfriend says:

I will be buying it first thing in the morning! We will have to coordinate between us where we are on both, so we stay on track? How to do that, the Audible book is a 13 hour listen so I have plenty of time.

  6. maksbestfriend says:

Ok, I have the Just Breathe. Want to do a reading plan for the two of us so that we are semi, sort of, at the same points on both? How would you like to do this?

    Have a great day!

  7. Will post details soon – currently @pediatrician getting school physical for oldest. Have a great morning!

  8. Here’s what we’ll do: The official announcement and book page for book #39 ‘Just Breathe’ will be posted this afternoon. Then just check in there with your status as you read the book, that way we can stay together. (If you speed up/slow down, I’ll do the same.)

BTW: CG is at 5% now in her back curvature, +1% more than last year’s physical. We’ll return next year for a scoliosis check… this scares me.

  9. maksbestfriend says:

5% is a bit, how did the doctor react? A had to have surgery, but he was almost at 90+%. Are there any exercises that you can do with her, any therapies that could help her to keep this from getting worse? Is there anyone in your family with scoliosis? Is she in any pain? Have you had your spine checked?

  10. @Becca – email sent in reply. Thanks so much for your comment, much appreciated!
